Mr. Potato Head

miss-ter poe-TAY-toe hed

A catalog that compares each item with something analogous to it. Like the toy that lets you stick a ridiculous nose on a starchy face, the figure offers opportunities for surprise. Sound objective with a few flattering analogs, then throw in an unflattering one to turn the whole description south. As you might have guessed, the Mr. Potato Head is one of my own named figures—a highly useful one nonetheless.
